About the role
We are a growing proprietary trading firm looking for a seasoned Risk Manager to join our operations team. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the intersection of compliance, operations, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be responsible for protecting the firm's integrity by managing risk at every level — from trader onboarding to payout processing to real-time risk escalation.
The ideal candidate comes from an established prop firm environment and understands the operational realities of trading risk: what to look for, how to act fast, and how to communicate clearly across teams.
What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with our developer team to define, specify, and implement risk detection logic, monitoring functions, and automated flagging systems — no coding required, but clear technical communication is essential.
- Process and review trader payout requests, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution in line with firm policies.
- Own risk escalation cases end-to-end: investigate flagged accounts, assess rule violations, make enforcement decisions, and document outcomes.
- Monitor trading activity for prohibited strategies and behaviors, identifying patterns that breach firm rules.
- Conduct and oversee KYC processing for new and existing traders, ensuring identity verification and regulatory alignment.
- Continuously improve risk frameworks, policies, and escalation playbooks as the firm scales.
Requirements
Required experience
- Prior experience at an established proprietary trading firm — this is a hard requirement.
- Hands-on KYC processing and compliance verification.
- Detection and enforcement of prohibited trading strategies.
- Payout handling and financial operations in a trading context.
- Ability to translate risk requirements into clear specs for a development team.
Not required
- Software engineering experience — we have a developer team; your job is to communicate what is needed.
- Formal financial certifications (nice to have, not mandatory).
